Al Gore's son busted for drugs in hybrid car

The 24-year-old son of former US Vice President Al Gore has been arrested for drug possession after he was stopped for allegedly speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff's official said.

Shock study shows party pill peril

Party pills are as addictive as P and magnify the frightening effects of methamphetamine.
Those are the shock early findings of university and Environmental Science and Research studies into the health effects of BZP, the active ingredient in most party pills.
On Thursday the Government announced it would ban the pills by the end of the year.
BZP will be classified as a class C1 drug, the same as cannabis.

Anti-smoking efforts have big impact

Aggressive efforts to curb smoking led to a sharp drop in the number of smokers in New York City in the past few years, US health experts say.
Just 17.5 per cent of adults in New York smoked last year, down from 21.6 per cent in 2002, after the city brought in higher taxes, smoke-free environments and tough-talking educational campaigns, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Boy to fight P charges

Chun Lee was charged with importing class A and class C drugs after a raid on his family home in Takapuna in April.
It is understood three packages containing 300 grams of P each, worth $900,000 on the street, were allegedly imported by mail.
When Lee appeared in Auckland District Court yesterday, his lawyer Sanjay Patel said police had disclosed new information and he asked that the case be put off for three weeks to allow him time to consider it.

Paul Holmes' daughter faces drug charges

LATEST: Millie Elder, the daughter of veteran broadcaster Paul Holmes, will face nine charges when she appears in court this afternoon.
The 19-year-old was arrested on June 17 and has been charged with a mixture of drug offences and receiving stolen property.
The most serious charges are two of possessing methamphetamine and one of knowingly allowing her premises to be used for the possession of class A drugs.
